Space Bedroom Ideas
The space kid room theme is popular for all ages. The space shuttle, outer space, the solar system, stars, planets, rockets, astronauts, flying saucers and more in the form of posters, wallpaper, borders, Wallies, murals, bedding and accessories are available for space bedroom decor.
My first piece of advice with this theme is to not let the room get too dark. The majority of wallpapers, murals and bedding seem to have a dark background of either blue or black. If there's a nook, corner or just one side of the room that you can use these dark background items on, you could then lighten up the rest of the room.

Wallpaper, murals, Wallies or borders
Here's a great option if you have sloped ceilings. You could paper the one wall and on up the sloped ceiling with one of the outer space wallpapers. Add a few glow in the dark stars and you'll be set. This gives you the chance to do the treatment without overwhelming the room. It would work best to have this be the wall the bed is on, or the wall across the room from the bed, so your child gets a good view of it.
You'll find some wallpaper outer space murals at Murals Your Way. Just type the word space in the search box. My favorite is "Earthrise".
WallNutz Paint By Number Mural Kits are an easy and inexpensive way to create your child's dream room or nursery. No artistic ability required! They have an outer space kid room theme wall mural pattern that would be easy to do, and you can just do the parts that you want. I don't see any reason you couldn't use the pattern to paint on a plain comforter too.

Paint finishes
Paint the walls midnight blue in a flat or satin finish. You'll feel like you are in a cave, but don't worry, it gets better. Then go back and sponge on white paint to give appearance of atmosphere, or clouds.
Use a sea sponge for the best random results. You can either clump your sponging together to look like large clouds, or spread them out and make them thinner, giving the look of atmosphere.
You might want to try this inside the closet or on a big piece of cardboard box until you get the look you like.
When you're done, add some glow in the dark stars or planets and a special space kid room theme ceiling light.

What budding astronaut wouldn't want to have this space shuttle bed in his or her bedroom. This is definitely for the kid who has everything. Your child would be the hit of the neighborhood with this. Everybody would want to come over for a slumber party and play outer space and astronaut!
And wouldn't this look great against a solar system wallpaper mural?
Take your wall decor to another level with 3D wall art! You can choose from the planets set or from the astronaut. But why chosse? Get both! These along with the space shuttle bunk bed will send your little astronauts off into space every time they go to their room.
