Shower Curtains
They are usually the main focus in your bathroom. Not that they have to be. You could make them blend into the walls by color matching if you want them to sort of disappear.
But unless you have a really large bathroom, the shower curtain is usually one of the largest decorative spaces in there. The walls are usually broken up by cabinets, tub/shower units, mirrors and towel bars.

If it's small, play it up BIG!
I'm sure you've seen the TV shows and articles in magazines that say if you've got it flaunt it! Well, if it's small, why not play it up big?
It's probably the smallest room in the house, so you can afford to spend a little more on the items you use in there, because there won't be that many.
If you have a dinky little bathroom window, then treat your shower curtain just like a big window treatment. Layer it up. Then you could just put a nice blind on the window with a topper that matches your shower curtain treatment.
And if you're going to live large in the bathroom, forget those dinky little 72" by 72" shower curtains!
When I had my workroom business, I made floor to ceiling shower curtains! That's the way custom designers do it.
So if you've got the standard 7-8 foot ceilings, you can probably get away with the standard show curtain liner, as long as your fabric treatment doesn't let you see the rod and top of liner in back.
**Note - Floor to ceiling is great as long as you have a light in your shower. If not, it makes it aweful dark in there. So to compensate, you might want to go with a semi-clear liner so it'll let the light through.
How to do the kids shower curtain
Okay, you have your kids shower curtain, which is vinyl and matches their room theme. It is probably mounted on a tension shower rod roughly 6 feet from the floor.
I'm going to use the shower curtain below as an example, and then you can just follow along to see how you could do this with the one you want to use.
I'm leaving the walls white. WHAT!!?? You'll see why in a minute.
Mount another shower rod, preferably one with the cups that screw into the wall to make it more secure, so the top of the rod will be approximately 3 inches from the ceiling.
Measure from the top of this new rod, down to the holes on your vinyl shower curtain. Add 2 inches. This is the length your valance will need to be to hide the lower rod and top of vinyl liner.
