Furniture: Nascar - Racing Theme Bedroom

This is perfect . . .

But as you can see it comes in espresso brown and that just won't work. But it is the perfect style for the Nascar theme bedroom and I think the price is reasonable enough that it'd be worth getting and painting it black. (If your guy likes more color, by all means paint it NASCAR Red or Blue.)

It already has that 'guy' look to it, and also a hint of tool box with the silver handles and feet. It'll look perfect black. You could even try painting it with a Hammertone paint finish, but you might hate yourself years down the road when you wanted to repaint it. It would have to be totally sanded down to get rid of the bumps.

See below if you want to see my alternate choice, which would look just as nice for a racing theme.

The set below would work equally as well, as it has an automotive feel to it with the brushed steel look. The nightstand is supposed to remind us of waves on the beach, but to me it says . . . .tire tracks.

I like the waves on the front, it adds a little movement to an otherwise stark and rigid set. The Nascar theme colors would look great on this set too.

I would probably pull in a dresser from the above set, painting it black, red or NASCAR blue of course.

Dumpster Dive Decor

Here are a few NASCAR theme ideas for the crafty, budget minded:

1.Go to the junk yard and find a couple rims the same size and some bolts long enough to bolt them together stacked on top of each other to make your table base. Make sure you get one that looks nice for the top one, because you'll be topping it with glass.

Get spray paint in the color of choice to spray the insides of the rims (sides of table base).

Purchase a precut round piece of table top glass for the top. You can buy little sticky cushions to put under the glass to help hold it in place so it doesn't slide as easy, or use a few spots of clear silicone adhesive.

2. While you're there at the junk yard, find a nice bench seat (the wide seats that three people could sit in) or two. You can often get lucky enough to find them in good enough shape to use as is. If not, buy some cheap seat covers to put over them. Or make your own out of a Nascar quilted bedspread!

These make nice seating. If they are too low, you can always make a wooden base to set them on and paint it to match. Just make a 1x6 or 1x10 wooden box and top it with plywood like a platform bed. After painting, you can just bolt the bench seats down.

3. Use old gear shift knobs for finials, or if they are small ones, for drawer knobs.

General NASCAR Theme Decor

Black and primary colors are pretty much the norm for NASCAR theme items. Actually this is a theme that would actually look good in an all white room. As long as it truly is 'white', not antique white or navajo white. Checkered flags and other racing decor are truly black and white.

An all black and white room would look great with NASCAR bedding and other room accessories. But don't despair if you don't want all that black. The Red, Yellow or Blue that is in the theme can really kick it up a notch! Just paint the walls solid, so the NASCAR drivers and cars posters and prints will really stand out.

NASCAR Bathroom
