Using the Pottery Barn Pink Island Surf Theme . . .

Apparently the Pink Island Surf decor from Pottery Barn or PB Teen has been discontinued. However eBay still seems to have a pretty good collection of pieces. So if you're new to this theme, you can check it out below. Also the PB Teen website has some other sets that would coordinate well with what you do have.

The walls . . .

For the pink island surf theme, think sherbet colors such as orange sherbet, lime sherbet etc. If you are wanting to have a girly girl room, use a soft pink or very soft sunny yellow or blue on the walls. On the other hand if you want something more vibrant, go for the tangerine or lime. Whichever you choose, take your Pottery Barn Island Surf theme item with you to the paint store to get a near perfect match.

Using two or three colors and glaze, paint wavy horizontal swipes of paint to give the impression of a sunset. Check out this page about painting a sunset, to give you an idea what I'm talking about. It'll show you the color divisions and blends. And remember, you're not painting a portrait, you just want soft colors blending in to give the illusion.

Another paint option would be verticle stripes in two or three of the colors. Make them wide so they'll be easier to do.

Paint waves at wainscot height, like the ones on the sheets of the pink island surf theme bedding from PB Teen.

You can get a free coloring book page of a hibiscus flower if you want to paint some flowers on the wall around the room. (Have on your pop-up blocker, because it has several! )

If you like to stencil the Stenciled Garden has the nicest 'simple' hibiscus stencil for an island surf theme that I found out there.

Mix It Up

If you don't have all the pieces of the bedding set, you could easily coordinate stripes or watercolor pieces with what you do have. Even some simple plaids would work here.
