A Fairy Tale World. . .
You know my mantra......you can have too much of a good thing. In my opinion, if you walk into the room, and can't see everything or focus on anything because there is so much going on in the room, it's over-done. You can still have the whole cake, you just don't need to throw it all over the walls, floor and ceiling too!
Just mentioning fairy tale brings to mind castles, knights on white horses, unicorns, and also the greenery of the woods. So if you do want to "do it up" on the walls, you could go for a forest outdoorsy scene with the greens on the bottam half of the wall, and the sky blues above to counteract all that pinkness.
Find a nice easy outline of a unicorn and use a projector to enlarge it on the wall, and paint a lifesize unicorn in the forest. Add a little sparkley to it just for magic.
In fact sparkle and fairy dust goe hand in hand with the fairy tale theme. So that is something you can add a touch of here and there.
When I was around the age of ten, my Mom painted my walls watermelon pink, and made bedding, canopy and curtains out of pink gingham. Okay enough pink already. To this day, I am not a 'pink' person. And thinking back, there really wasn't anything at all in there to break up the pink. That would have helped.
But there you go. That's an idea you can work with. Gingham goes with just about any other print and would be a great 'neutral' to blend in with what else you choose.

Window Treatments for the Fairy Tale Theme Room
Speaking of sparkle, use some of the stretchy sequin looking fabric for curtains, or how about yards and yards of organza with glitter in it to wrap around a pole or swag holders at the top of the window, and around the posts of the bed. Bridal netting type fabric with glitter in it is another good option.
This is one of those cases where more is better. Over pack the curtains on the rods, and tie them back. Add miniblinds to the widow for privacy.
