Building a bug or insect themed bedroom.
Snakes, bugs, frogs and kids. Don't they just go hand in hand? This cute theme can be a lot of fun without getting too bugged!
For your colors it should be pretty easy. If you're going to use bug bedding, use it as your color palette. As a general rule, lean towards blues, greens and browns. Whether you're doing this theme for a boy or a girl may also make a difference in your color choice.
Most homes have a neutral floor color lately that seems to be beige/browns in the form of hardwoods or carpets (think dirt color!). So how about painting the upper part of the walls and the ceiling a nice shade of blue, your sky. On the lower part of the wall a shade or two of green, or paint some grass, leaves and trees, and critters of course!
Also with the above paint options, if you want to keep it simple, after you paint the upper wall and ceiling, and the lower wall, just get some Wallies or Wall Stickers to scatter around the room. Add a few bug pictures or bug posters here and there for accent.
Paint is cheap and easy to replace, and Wall Stickers are easy to remove. And the basis for this bugs theme, the paint colors, furniture etc. will easily be converted to military.

You'll love this huge assortment Bug Pictures
and posters! You'll find everything from art style to whimsical insect and bug pictures at prices you can afford. Here are a couple examples:

- When you think of bugs and other critters, don't you think 'outdoors'? So keep the outdoors in mind as you put together the bugs theme kid room.
- The bug theme would be a natural to blend in with a camping or military theme too!
- Mosquito netting for over the bed or to use for the window treatments.
- Butterfly net to hang on the wall. (You know the kind with the handle and a net, sort of like a fish net.)
- Find a gnarly branch and attach it to the wall and curl a rubber or soft stuffed snake around it.
- Hang a big bug, dragonfly or butterfly kite from one corner of the ceiling.
- If you're planning a girl's bugs theme room and using the pinks and purples, keep that in mind when purchasing your accessories. Mosquito netting comes in all colors you know!
- Blue or green for the walls if you're not using wallpaper, but there are many shades of both. Choose the one that will go best with your bedding.
- Bugs go hand in hand with frogs, snakes, grass and leaves. So you could paint tall grass around the bottom of the walls, and paint leaves or use a leaf border around the top.
This is my favorite bug lighting for kids. It's a whimsical Bug Hut Lamp that has glow in the dark bugs accenting the base with a coordinating shade.
This coordinating is just as cute, from Company Kids. It's full of creepy crawler bugs like moths, beetles, and other insects plus frogs, lizards, worms and snakes. Just what your outdoor adventurer is looking for!
Also note the canvas covered headboard and storage trunk, the bug rug and darling pieced quilt that are also available from Company Kids. If the headboard is out of your budget, you could easily make your own that looks similar.
